Pete McBride is a renowned photographer who has garnered numerous accolades in his field. He has spent two decades studying the world with a camera and soon flourished as a self-taught photographer, filmmaker, writer, and public speaker.

With many feathers in his cap, he has spent half of his life traveling to 75 countries for prominent organizations, including National Geographic, Smithsonian, Google, The Nature Conservancy, and many more. He is a Sony Artisan of Imagery and has shared his life experiences on numerous major platforms.

His humor, combined with his passion and love for visual storytelling and conservation, has put him in high demand for public speaking engagements at numerous prominent platforms, including TEDx, The World Economic Forum, and Nat Geo Live. Whether it involves vantage points from 20,000 feet or swimming beneath icebergs, Pete is passionate about creating unique photographs, films, and stories.

After a decade of documenting remote expeditions from Everest to Antarctica, McBride decided to focus his cameras closer to home on a subject closer to his heart, his backyard river, the Colorado. Pete’s latest National Geographic film was nominated for an Emmy for Best Nature Documentary. He loves to use his adventures as a way to tell visual stories of how wild places impacted his life.

Pete McBride, one of the world’s most talented photographers, invited us to help develop a stronger, futuristic version of his ideas. He took his reputation and career from relative obscurity to high visibility in building his personal brand. 

With a mission to revamp his website, Pete McBride worked closely with us to build a user-friendly and natural-looking website. He wanted to keep his brand distinct but congruent with his profession.

The streamlining process continued with a smooth flow as we began interacting with his ideas, providing logic to the new brand architecture and designing a new identity. He envisioned having a creative, professional-looking, interactive, and expressive website, which we successfully delivered.

Our Approach

After dedicated effort and creative collaboration, our team of developers, designers, writers, and innovative thinkers set out to build a vibrant yet naturally subtle brand website that feels alive and deeply human.

Final Design

We began by developing visuals that expressed our ideas and vision, followed by a custom website redesign completed within a short timeframe.

The design process focused on thoughtful aesthetics, seamless navigation, and emotional storytelling. We incorporated SmugMug for select imagery, drew inspiration for the logo from the U shape of the Colorado River, and extended the logo’s color palette across the site using Abbey and Well Read tones, along with black and white.

Typography choices such as Elgoc Alt Medium and Elgoc Alt Regular were selected to maintain a clean and refined visual identity. To enhance engagement, we added micro interactions, animations, sliders, a mega menu, and integrated social media and video platforms, including Instagram, Vimeo, and YouTube.
